At 11:11 on November 11, 2011, volunteers from across the city joined together to read to Dallas ISD students for 11 minutes to promote the importance of reading.
ChildCareGroup was happy to participate in the 11.11.11 community-wide literacy campaign thanks volunteers from United Way, State Farm and Baylor Hospital.
Here are some pictures from our classrooms!
But that’s not all!
In honor of Veterans Day, our MLK Center invited Crystal Hailey, an active member of the United States Army, to spend the afternoon at the center speaking to our classrooms about her role in the military. It’s never too early to teach children the importance of Veterans Day. Crystal, thank you for serving our country!
THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!
THANK YOU CRYSTAL!

People tell us that we don’t look our age, and we agree! Our outstanding staff members keep this organization on the cutting edge of early childhood education. Thanks to the generous support of our funding partners, our programs have adjusted and expanded over the last 110 years to meet the most relevant needs in our community.
On Saturday, November 5 we hosted a celebration to honor the people who have worked tirelessly to care for children in our community: Our Staff Members. In addition, Dallas Council Member, Dwaine Caraway, issued a proclamation, honoring ChildCareGroup for our outstanding contribution to the community. Thanks to many volunteers (including some from Baylor and MCG Group), the event was a huge success!
More than 250 people attended the event. It was a beautiful day!
There were plenty of games for the kids. Here is the pie eating contest. It was definitely a favorite!
Awards and honors were presented to staff members.
These ladies have each worked with us for 30+ years!

Fall has fallen on our child development centers, and we are thrilled to have wonderful volunteer groups like the one from Baylor Health Care System – Dallas.
Thanks to them, the halls of our MLK Child Development Center are now decked with the smiling faces of jack o’ lanterns! Not to mention, the kids had a blast playing with them on the playground and listening to stories being read aloud. This group was so fun that the kids literally lined up to get pictures with them. Baylor, come back to visit soon!
THANK YOU BAYLOR!
(This is a Thank You card our children made for the volunteers.)
